Mailing List

We use Mailchimp to manage our subscriber list and send out email updates. Your data is held by Mailchimp, and may be held outside the UK or EU. By signing up to our email list you consent to your data being passed to and held by Mailchimp, and that we may access these details.

We do not share your email address with other third parties, except where required by law. Your email address is used only for sending updates by us, the blog’s authors.

Mailchimp tracks whether you open our emails, and whether you click on any links in the emails. This is so we can remove subscribers who no longer engage. Mailchimp also tracks the device used to read your emails so that they are sent in the most suitable format.

To receive a copy of your Mailchimp data you should email hello@businessclassnuts.com. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link and you may unsubscribe from our emails at any time. Unsubscribing via this link will be actioned immediately. You can also contact us by emailing hello@businessclassnuts.com to request that we erase any personal data we hold about you (apart from any data we are obliged to keep for legal purposes).

Comments

If you comment on a post, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive a the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You have the right to access and amend your comments by emailing hello@businessclassnuts.com. We have the right to delete any comments at any time.

Cookies

Cookies are small information files downloaded to the user’s device to allow recognition of the device. They are used to help users navigate websites effectively and perform certain functions. By using cookies, information about visitors and visits will be temporarily saved. Other websites may also recognise the device through the same cookie.

Anonymous cookies required for site functioning: information gathered is not used for marketing purposes. Rejecting these cookies may affect the function of the site.

Anonymous cookies for website improvement and statistical monitoring: these cookies collect information about how visitors use the site and which pages they visit.

Commenting

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
